Based in Newport, North Carolina, J.E. Hibbs Electric, Inc. is an unlimited license family-owned and operated electrical contracting company which was started by Jim Hibbs, a Carteret County native who still lives in Newport with his wife and young daughter.
Jim, who is president of the company, attended and graduated in 1987 from West Carteret High School. Subsequently, he attended and graduated from Carteret Community College's electrical course under the late Homer Brooks. Immediately upon graduation, he began working in the electrical field with some of the best electrical contractors in the area. He worked for eight years on a range of both residential and large commercial electrical projects where he gained an abundance of additional experience in the electrical field.
In March of 1996, he started J.E. Hibbs Electric. At the age of 26, he was one of the youngest licensed electrical contractors operating a business full-time in the United States. Jim feels fortunate to have his father working with him in the office (and in the field during earlier days) since 1998 where Louis maintains the scheduling and helps maintain the family tradition of exceptional service to build lasting relationships with the company's customers.
J.E. Hibbs Electric was incorporated in 2000 and upgraded to an Unlimited License, allowing the business to pursue larger projects both in the public and private sectors where the company has developed relationships with some of the area's premier contractors. The company's licensing capabilities allow it to flow seamlessly along with these premier contractors in their various projects and make J.E. Hibbs Electric, Inc. “a one-stop shop” for electrical contracting needs.
